Little Champions Program - Kids Martial Arts In the Catskills
Our Little Champions Program focuses on self-defense, skill development, coordination, discipline, and personal growth, all while fostering a strong sense of community and teamwork, and confidence. Confidence to hopefully put their skills to the test and compete one day to earn medals, championships belts, and many more accolades.
Every Little Champion will learn real life self defense techniques which will be useful for their entire lives ranging from setting firm verbal boundaries, hair pulling, backpack grabbing, being choked/pinned against lockers or walls and so much more.
No matter your child’s physical ability level Professor Christian Garcia will work with them to increase their motor skills, physical abilities, and most importantly confidence and emotional resilience. If possible, in the group setting, and if not then private/small group settings could be arranged. Come down for a trial class and find out!
Our Schedule
Head Instructor: Christian Garcia
I started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu back in 2010 at Queens MMA, an Alliance BJJ affiliate in Queens, NY. Through Alliance, I had the chance to learn from incredible professors like Fabio Clemente, Lucas Lepri, Babs Olusanmokun, and many other high-level black belts. Along the way, I competed often and picked up invaluable lessons from amazing instructors such as Francisco “Sinistro” Iturralde, Adam Benayoun, Chris Visentin, and Charlie Liu—each shaping my game in their own way.
After years of competing, I took a step back to focus on family life. That’s when I met Professor Christian DeFiris, a black belt under Alexandre “Soca” Freitas and owner of Extreme Cage Fighting (ECF) on Long Island. Under his guidance, I earned my Brown Belt in 2021, began teaching kids and adults, and discovered how much I loved coaching. Those experiences not only improved my wrestling and top game but also showed me what it takes to run a successful academy.
In January 2024, I opened Catskills Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, offering classes for kids, teens, and adults. The community welcomed us warmly, and the academy quickly grew. On May 30, 2025, I was honored to receive my Black Belt from Professor DeFiris at ECF headquarters.
As a new Black Belt, I feel like a beginner again—relearning Jiu-Jitsu with fresh eyes and a deeper patience. My mission now is simple: to share this art, honor the tradition, and help my students grow both on and off the mats.
